Mitsubishi Electric Supplies 1.2MW Solar Panels to Tokyo International Airport
TOKYO, Sep 09, 2010 (Charge WIRE) -- Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO:6503) announced today that it hasPrimarilysupplied 7,946 photovoltaic (PV) modules to Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd., which manages Tokyo Universal Airport, otherwise known as Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan.
The modules component a 1,246-kilowatt (kW) PV system installed on the roof of the two passenger terminals and car parking, covering a thoroughgoing surface of 9,411 square meters, equivalent to 36 tennis courts. TheMainlysystem will contain a 829.54kW sub-system composed of 4,366 PV modules installed on the roof of Extreme 1, a 167.2kW system of 880 modules installed on the roof of Greatest 2 and a 249.75kW system of 2,700 half-size modules on the roof of the P4 car parking.
Since 2004, Japan Airport Control panel has strived to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by utilizing renewable liveliness and reducing energy used for air conditioning and lighting at Haneda Airport. The newly installed PVLargesystem will power a part of the electricity used in the two passenger terminals and car parking, and is expected to invent 1,157 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity annually, reducing annual carbonLargelydioxide emissions by 362 tons. Mitsubishi Electric's PV modules useOn the wholelead-free solder, which also contributes to further reducing environmental effect.

When buying a solar photovoltaic system, what does 3.0 kW mean?
I know that kW means kilowatt but does 3kW mean it produces 3 kW per day or what? If my home uses 2-3 kW per day, does this mean a 3 kW system that is tied to the grid, would result in close to a zero electric bill for that month?

You use 3 kWh per day on your home
You install a 3 KW solar power sytem. If you only got 1 hour of sun a day you would zero out your electric bill. But normally we get more then one hour a day. It is all based on how many Peak Sun hours you get in your area. If you get 5 Peak Sun Hours a day in your area with the same 3kw system you would get 15 kWhs from the system.
